About Simulcast

Simulcast allows buyers and sellers to participate in an auction online. Virtual buyers gain entrance into the lanes and sellers can represent their vehicles remotely.

Why use Simulcast?

Simulcast helps you:

  • Bid without leaving your dealership
  • Utilize multiple auction locations
  • Find an effective way to purchase specifically targeted vehicles and for consignors to gain visibility for their products

Policies

  • The Pre-Sale catalog is subject to change at any time prior to the sale.
  • It is the responsibility of the buyer to verify all vehicle information prior to the time of the sale.
  • All auction policies for the sale location in which you are participating will apply to the sale of these vehicles.
  • You must click the "Bid" button to participate in the bidding on a vehicle.

Proxy Bidding Rules

  • No notification of your proxy bid status will be done prior to the start of the sale, the time that shows on the Sale Schedule Page.
  • Once the sale starts (at the time the Sale Schedule Page shows) notifications will happen if you are outbid.
  • If two proxy bids are put in for the same amount, the bid goes to the person who put in first proxy bid and a notification is sent to the second, they will be considered outbid.
  • Proxy bids will be applied when the vehicle is on the block, after the first accepted lane or web bid on that vehicle.
  • We will only lock out changes while the vehicle is up on the block client. In case of reruns, you can modify your proxy bids after the vehicle crosses the block.
  • Proxy bids may be placed or edited until the vehicle reaches the block. When the vehicle is on the block, proxy bids may not be placed or changed.
  • If a vehicle no-sales the first time it crosses the block, the proxy bids will be applied again each subsequent time the vehicle crosses the block on that sale day.
  • Setting, changing, deleting or any modification of your proxy bid will be allowed up to the time the vehicle is pulled up on the block client.
  • Proxy bids can only be entered in amounts divisible by 100.
  • When a car is given a proxy bid amount, it is also added to watch list automatically, but one or the other or both can be removed up to the time the vehicle is pulled up in the block client.
  • User must have or provide valid e-mail address to utilize proxy bidding.

Simulcast FAQs

Simulcast FAQs

Why doesn't anything happen when I click "Enter Sale"?

Pop-up blockers are most likely responsible for this issue. To solve this problem press the "Control" key as you click "Enter Sale." This will override the pop-up blocker for this instance and allow you to access the Simulcast sale.

I just purchased a car on Simulcast. What happens next?

You will receive a confirmation email with a list of the vehicles you purchased once you log out. If you would like to add Post-Sale Inspections, Transportation information or any payment information, you can fax that to the location as necessary.

What are my arbitration rights when purchasing a car on Simulcast?

The arbitration policies of the individual location you are participating in apply.

Why is the vehicle description lagging behind the video of the car that is currently in the lane?

As when attending a physical auction, vehicles commonly leave the auction lane before bidding is completed.

What does this message mean: "Your Dealer number is inactive or unauthorized at the auction; please call the auction to resolve."

The Dealership or buyer is in inactive or unauthorized status at that particular location. You will need to call the location to resolve this.

Why did I not see my name in the list of names when I attempted to sign up for Simulcast online?

You will need to contact Dealer Registration at the location to activate your name in the Dealership record.

Why do I receive the message "You are currently logged In"?

There is another session of Simulcast under your login that is active. Be certain that you have logged out of the session you were in previously by completely closing the window. Also, be certain that someone else is not logged in with your user name and password.

I can see video, but have no audio. Why?

Check your volume level and that external speakers are correctly connected to your computer. Also, be certain that you install the plug-in when prompted.

What do I do when I receive this message: "Your Dealer number was not found in the Dealer Master File. Contact Customer Service."

You are not registered correctly at the location you are attempting to participate in. Contact the Dealer Registration Department to resolve.

Why am I getting one video frame per second or less?

Your Internet connection speed is not adequate to support faster video delivery rates.

I clicked the "Bid" button and just after my bid, the car was sold. What happened to my bid?

If you are participating with a slower Internet connection, bids will sometimes arrive after the auctioneer has already sold the vehicle. Please attempt to bid earlier in the bidding process in order to alert the auctioneer that you have interest in that vehicle.

Why did I receive this error message when clicking on a Simulcast event: "An invalid franchise code was received. Please contact the auction."

The correct franchise code needed to participate in that particular sale is missing from your Dealer record. Please call the Dealer Registration Department at the location to resolve.

Port and Firewall Help

This guide provides information to network administrators about the ports and IP addresses used to access Simulcast from behind a firewall or when using a proxy.

The Simulcast application runs on an application server and the video and audio are streamed to the client from separate A/V streaming servers.

Beginning July 2011 Simulcast will begin a transition which will necessitate new IP addresses and ports. During our transition period, any customer who wants to explicitly allow Simulcast on their network should allow the following ports and IP addresses:

Description IP Address TCP Ports
Simulcast sales all Auctions
Application: http://simulcast.manheim.com
67.97.218.97
63.128.67.180
63.128.67.140
1003
  67.97.219.72 9100
9101-9105
9201-9205
9301-9305
9401-9405
9501-9505
9601-9605
Enhanced Audio/Video
Application: stream.manheim.com
63.128.67.180
63.128.67.140
554

The Simulcast A/V stream is a persistent TCP connection. Multiple Simulcast A/V streams can use up all available resources on a Proxy server. Therefore we recommend that all traffic to http://video.manheim.com not be proxied.

To set up a proxy server for accessing Simulcast, you must allow the ports listed in the table above to http://video.Manheim.com and http://simulcast.Manheim.com.

Please email FirewallHelp@manheim.com with any firewall issues or questions.
